New Puppy To-do List
Pre Puppy
Find a veterinarian and schedule the first wellness visit.
Book your free trainer consult & find group puppy classes.
Puppy-proof your home (if they can reach it, they can chew it).
Purchase essential supplies: crate, playpen, bowls, leash, brush, etc.
Stock up on a variety of toys for play and enrichment.
Set house rules (e.g. will puppy be allowed on the couch/in kitchen).
Once Home
Start with 2–3 days of quiet bonding and go to your first vet visit within 5 days.
Continue crate training and establish a consistent routine.
Be consistent—don’t relax rules just because they’re cute.
Enroll in puppy class by 10 weeks; 10–12 weeks is a crucial socialization window.
Socialize early: intro to new things, but carry/use stroller until fully vaccinated.
Build a support network—connect with puppy parents, & remember we’re always a resource.

Big‑box options near you may include Petco, PetSmart, and Zoom Room, which often provide positive‑reinforcement programs for puppy manners and socialization.
